What is Dictate Visit?▼
Say or type what happened in a visit, like “extraction #30 today, crown planned on 31, ibuprofen 600, declined X-rays”. PractCom finds the patient by name, email or cell and prepares the post-treatment and pre-treatment instructions, informed consents, informed refusals, compliance forms and Med Cards. You see a thumbnail of every document, untick anything you don't want, choose Text, Email or Both, and press Send now. Notes stay in the patient's Notes tab and are never sent to the patient.
What is the PractCom Patient Portal?▼
Every patient gets one private link to their own portal, with every instruction, consent, refusal, Med Card and referral your office has sent them, from today or years ago. They can read and sign on any phone with no app, account or password. PractCom keeps a time-stamped record of when each link was sent, when the patient opened each document and when each form was signed, so your office can show what the patient received if it is ever questioned.
Do patients need to sign up for a portal to see what we send?▼
No. Patients get a private link by text and/or email that opens their documents instantly, with no account or password.
Is PractCom just a post-op instruction tool?▼
No. PractCom began there, but it has evolved into a full dental patient communication platform that includes informed consents, referrals, medication cards, patient texting, analytics, smile simulations, a patient portal, 15-language support, compliance management, a practice website chat widget, and a Hire Staff workforce hub. All features are included in your plan — no add-on fees, no per-module pricing.
How much does PractCom cost?▼
PractCom has three plans: Essential at $79.95/mo (solo dentist, 1 location, 1,500 patients), Professional at $199.95/mo (up to 3 locations, 6,000 patients), and Enterprise starting at $999.95/mo for DSOs. Every plan includes a 15-day free trial with no credit card required. Save 15% by paying annually. All plans can be managed from inside the app.
Is there a free trial?▼
Yes — every plan starts with a 15-day free trial. We do not ask for a credit card at signup. You get full access to every feature from day one — including the post-op instruction library, informed consent tools, Smile Design AI, the practice website chat widget, and the patient portal.
Can I switch plans later?▼
Yes, anytime. From inside the app you can upgrade or downgrade in two clicks. If you upgrade mid-month you are prorated for the difference. If you downgrade, the change applies at your next billing cycle.
What counts as an active patient?▼
Anyone who has had a visit or outreach in the last 18 months (the standard definition the ADA uses). PractCom re-counts daily so if a patient has not been seen in 18 months, they roll off automatically.
What happens if I go over my plan's patient limit?▼
Nothing immediate — PractCom gives you a 20% grace buffer and sends one friendly email. If you are consistently over, you can add a patient pack (from $19/mo for +500 patients) or upgrade your plan entirely.
Do you have a HIPAA BAA?▼
Yes. Every practice signs a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with The OnCall Bot LLC (d/b/a PractCom) right inside the app, on every plan. You review it, fill in your practice details and sign online (typed or drawn signature) when you first log in, and a signed copy is always available in Practice Settings. PractCom also uses encrypted transit, encrypted storage, access controls and audit logging. Questions: admin@practcom.com.
How does billing work?▼
PractCom uses Stripe for secure, PCI-compliant checkout. You can pay monthly or save 15% by paying annually. You can cancel from your account at any time — no cancellation forms, no retention calls.
What happens if I go over my texts, emails or AI limits?▼
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of patient texts, patient emails and AI actions. You get an email and a dashboard banner when you reach 80% of any limit, and again at 100%. There is a 20% grace buffer after that, then that activity pauses until your allowance resets on the 1st of the month. To keep going, add a +1,000 texts pack for $19/mo (Essential and Professional) or upgrade your plan from inside the app in two clicks.
Will my data move between plans?▼
Yes — all your patients, templates, forms, chatbot content, and settings travel with your account when you upgrade or downgrade. No re-setup needed.
How does PractCom compare to other dental communication platforms?▼
PractCom focuses on clinical communication workflows that many general-purpose dental platforms do not prioritize — post-treatment instructions, informed consent management, refusal forms, medication cards, referral management, 15-language support, SmileDesign AI, and the free practice website chat widget are all included in your plan. There are no setup fees, no annual contracts, and no per-module pricing. Plans start at $79.95/mo.
Does PractCom require a live PMS integration?▼
No. PractCom works without a live PMS integration. Simply export a patient list from Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve, or any practice management system that can produce a CSV or Excel file, then import it directly into PractCom. Only First Name, Last Name, and Email Address are required — Cell Phone is optional. Up to 10,000 patients per file can be imported in one upload.
How fast can a dental practice get started with PractCom?▼
Setup takes less than two minutes. There is no complex installation, no IT configuration, and no lengthy onboarding process. Your team can be sending professional post-op instructions and informed consent communications on the same day you sign up.
What is the Hire Staff feature and who can access it?▼
Hire Staff is a dental workforce hub included free in every PractCom subscription. It gives dental practices one-click access to all major job boards — Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, CareerBuilder, and dental-specific platforms — plus exclusive access to the private PractCom talent marketplace at app.practcom.com/jobs, where only subscribers can see pre-screened dental professionals actively seeking positions. According to the ADA Health Policy Institute, over 62% of dentists cite staffing as their #1 challenge, and 76% find dental hygienist recruitment extremely difficult.
Does PractCom help with dental informed consent documentation?▼
Yes. The American Dental Association includes informed consent documentation as part of the required patient record. PractCom provides an organized informed consent library that helps practices deliver and document consent communications in a standardized, consistent way — supporting more consistent communication workflows across the entire team. PractCom supports documentation workflows and does not replace clinical judgment or legal advice.
